Weapons for National Service Participants
I'm surprised that I haven't actually written about this: National Service participants would be allowed to handle weapons in the future. Weapons, i.e M-16 or Styer machine guns, are pretty safe if handled correctly and administer by the correct personnel, in this case would be our own Malaysian Army – my experience while studying in Royal Military College 10 years ago can validate that. Man…this really makes me wanna go back to 17 and got selected for this National Service thingy.
But then again, obviously there would be some oh-so-uncool parents that think otherwise. They think that 17-year-olds are not matured enough to be handling those kind of serious weaponary. That they will go around shooting people should they learned how to use M-16. That they will go around slaughtering the next door neighbours should they learned to use pistols. Maybe we should air this online, directly to the faces of the oh-so-uncool parents, to quiet them off
This is one of the best comeback lines of all time. It is a portion of
National Public Radio (NPR) interview between a female broadcaster and US
Marine Corps General Reinwald who was about to sponsor a Boy Scout Troop
visiting his military installation.FEMALE INTERVIEWER: So, General Reinwald, what things are you going to teach
these young boys when they visit your base?GENERAL REINWALD: We're going to teach them climbing, canoeing, archery,
and shooting.FEMALE INTERVIEWER: Shooting! That's a bit irresponsible, isn't it?
GENERAL REINWALD: I don't see why, they'll be properly supervised on the
rifle range.FEMALE INTERVIEWER: Don't you admit that this is a terribly dangerous
activity to be teaching children?GENERAL REINWALD: I don't see how. We will be teaching them proper rifle
discipline before they even touch a firearm.FEMALE INTERVIEWER: But you're equipping them to become violent killers.
GENERAL REINWALD: Well, Ma'am, you're equipped to be a prostitute, but
you're not one, are you?The radio went silent and the interview ended. You gotta love the Marines !
Cool… why didn't we have any Malaysian Army General like that in our Army?? Maybe because it was…. shhh… i better kept quiet – you wouldn't want to see me with my blog in the front page of every major newspaper – condemning the Army – tomorrow right? ![]()
