What do you want to be when you grew up?
When I was just a little boy,
i asked my mother, what would i be…
would I be handsome, would i be rich,
this is what she says to me….
“Grow up la ah boy!!@#@#!%$$#%#%$&*^ You think so romantic ar singing song like that… I have to do housework wan you know…no time lah!!!!!”
I made the last line up
But then again, all of us must have gone thru the time where we have some ideal jobs as our ambition – engineer, doctor, lawyer, policeman, nurse, teacher, Donald Trump, Bill Gates, Hitler – as our inspiration to study harder to achieve the ambition, or just something to please the adults – relatives and teachers especially. I must be lying if I said that I never write an essay titled “What Do I Want To Be When I Grew Up?” or “My Ambition” or “Cita-cita Saya” during the schooling days – in fact, I think I must have written tonnes of those, in both English and Malay.
While writing the essays, you must state as well as to why you wanted that job as your ambition. Come to think of it, I don't think it applies to the real world.
“I want to become a policeman so that I can protect my countries”
“I want to become a doctor so that I can save people's life”
“I want to become a prostitute so that I can screw around”
“I want to become a lawyer because it's cool to be a lawyer”When I say “Real world”, what I mean was the current living condition of the world now, where money comes first. We work our ass off for money – raise your hands from your keyboards or mouses if you work for money (i know Lynnee does ). But then, there were no such answers as below when we wrote the essays way back then:
“I want to become a doctor because it pays so damn good”
“I want to become a lawyer because I get paid for my bullshits in courts”
“I want to become a prostitute because I get paid like 1000 bucks a session”
“I want to become an engineer because I can charge my clients silly”
I never actually have an ambition myself as a kid – have to made one up to satisfy the relatives and teachers. So this was what I usually wrote for this kind of essay:
“Cita-cita saya ialah untuk menjadi seorang polis angkasa Gaban. Kenapa saya hendak menjadi polis angkasa Gaban kerana saya boleh bertarung dengan raksasa yang bakal memusnahkan Bumi. Juga, polis angkasa Gaban boleh bertukar baju kepada uniform polis angkasa dalam masa 0.0005 saat sahaja. Itulah sebabnya saya ingin menjadi polis angkasa Gaban.”
I made that up, but it's something around that region
*translation: My ambition is to be a Gaban's space police. Why do I want to be a Gaban's space police is because I can fight the monsters that will come and destroy Earth. Also, Gaban's space police ability to change clothes in 0.0005 seconds amazes me as well. That's the reason I wanted to be Gaban's space police.

yeah, try answering that question with this answer: “When I grew up, i wanna be a successful and rich gigolo”….
