Chinese New Year has already come to the 6th day. This year is the first Chinese New Year where me and my wife had to give out angpows. Kinda cool, especially when we got some unexpected angpows from her relatives, saying that within the first year of marriage, the newly-weds are still entitled for angpows :)

This year is the first time that I met most of my wife’s relatives. Not to say that I haven’t met them during the wedding ceremony, it’s just that most weren’t around then. Being married, especially newly married, can be hard, as people kept telling us to quickly have kids by this year end so that can collect back the angpows that we gave out. Freaks me out sometimes, as both of us don’t really want to be having kids yet. At least not for another 2-3 years.

Chinese New Year this year was tiring. Imagine on CNY eve, we have to travel to Alor Setar in the morning for wife’s side gathering, then back to SP for prayers at my grandmom’s place, back to Alor Setar on CNY 1st day afternoon to give angpow (and give angpow at my side in the morning), then back to SP for BBQ at my parents on CNY 2nd day nite, and back to work on CNY 3rd day morning. I think all in all, i have already covered more than 500km in that few days…… tiring……
