Tips: What can you do with Aspirin?
This is exactly what I was supposed to write before I got fed-up with Streamyx and decided to blog about it. I wasn’t about to make this side into DIY or Household Tips site, but I’m just writing what i had read and found that it was interesting.
We all know aspirin when we needed a quick cure for headaches. But besides curing headaches and as a painkiller, aspirin could be used in many other ways that you don’t even think of. Heck, I didn’t even know most of this usage
All these usage (and recommendations are taken from Reader Digest’s “Extraordinary Usages for Ordinary Things”.
All of us drive cars, and there’s one thing that we may dread about starting cars in the morning: flat battery. You may put all the battery water that you have, but without somebody helping you to jump-start the car, it’s almost as good as useless. Here’s something you can do: Drop 2 tablets of aspirin into the battery. The acetylsalicylic (damn that was hard to spell!) acid in aspirin will combine with the battery’s sulphuric acid to give you the final charge. Just make sure that you get the battery fixed after that ![]()
This is something for the swimmers – you will noticed some change in your hair colour if you often swam in the chlorinated swimming pool. By dissolving 6 to 8 aspirin tablets in a glass of warm water and rub it thoroughly into your hair and leave it for 10-15 minutes will usually help returning your hair colour to it’s former shade. Just make sure you rinse your hair after that
For mothers who had hard time removing stains on the clothes of your children, a few tablets of aspirin may actually help you. But before trying out any of these methods, pls make sure that none of your children (or wearer of the clothes you washed) are not allergic to aspirin. To remove perspiration (a.k.a sweat) stains, crush 2 aspirin tablets and mix the powder into 1/2 cup of warm water. Use the mixture to soak the stained part on the garment for 2 to 3 hours and wash. For egg stains, try scraping out as many egg as you can from the shirt/pants and try sponging the rest out using lukewarm water. If you use hot water, it will set the egg – you wouldn’t like that. If scraping doesn’t help much, mix water & cream of tartar into a paste and crushed one tablet of aspirin into the paste. Spread the paste (water, tartar, aspirin) on the stain and leave it for 30 mins. Rinse in warm water and the egg will disappear like magic
Gardeners or those who like flowers will also find aspirin useful too. You can crushed a tablet of aspirin in the vase before setting in the flower – it will keep the flowers (especially roses) fresh for a longer time. For gardening, you can grind aspirin and mix them with water to treat fungal conditions in soil.
How effective is the tips? I don’t know – i haven’t tried out all of them. I have personally tried the keeping flowers fresh for longer and cleaning the sweat stains and it worked wonders. You may want to share what have you personally use aspirin for besides as a painkiller
