I loved bak kwa!

I have to admit it – i really loved *bak kwa! I simply loved the fact that you can just eat it with essentially anything. Most of the time outside of CNY month, you can only get it at the specialties stores like Bee Cheng Hiang or Tuck Kee, but during the months leading to Chinese New Year, you can practically get it anywhere, even by the road side!

I have grown to love bak kwa since I was very small. The standard way of eating it is just to munch the meat by itself. But I normally sandwiched it between 2 slices of bread. I can think of a few way to eat bak kwa:

1. Eat it with white rice, together with other dishes

2. Mixed it together with rice when cooking, to make the so-called bak kwa rice.

3. Fried it with rice/noodle/anything you want in place of meat

I don’t know – maybe different people have different way of eating it. Why not you tell me? :)

*bak kwa – dried minced meat, usually pork, but you can find the chicken equivalent as well

How much is it selling at ur place ah? Which brand do u recommend ?

KY – bak kwa with goreng pisang? odd combi leh… haven’t tried but will try once have both together…

DZ – i bought 500gm for RM24 on Sunday at roadside – no brand wan… my wife has ordered another 2 600gm for the same price from her colleague to be delivered on thursday… during CNY – try the roadside, no brand wan…mostly is nice…but outside CNY, i recommend Bee Cheng Hiang…

I bought the bee cheng hiang one. 300 grams.. finished in one sitting! Ate it with bread.

neeshen – oh yes.. bee cheng hiang brand’s good! :) pity i have ulser in my mouth, else i can enjoy more bak kwa… :)
