Happy cut-throat day?
It’s that time of the year again. The time where Cupid seems to be very busy hooking people up. The time where business-minded people take advantage of the lovey-dovey couples to slaughter make money out of them. Yes, you know what I meant – it’s Valentine’s Day again.
I may sound over-reacted on Valentine’s Day – i still think that it’s some kind of scam done by the florist and gift shop owners in the past to push out their old stock for last year, and earn like 2-3 times the normal price. Just take an example – 12 stalks of roses during normal time is about RM50, but the price could go up to RM150 for the same amount of roses.
And also, it seems that even a decent meal during Valentine’s Day also costs almost double the normal price as well. Peppered with nice wordings in the menu, most of the time the meal is the standard offering, but is made special for Valentine’s Day. I can’t believe that I used to fall for this kind of thing.
This year, it’s simple, and most likely it’s going to be like last year for me – cook up a storm and have a nice meal at home. You can buy salmon fillets and the side dishes and have your own grilled salmon steak for less than RM30 for 2 person. Cheap, wholesome and good – and you don’t even have to worry about not getting any parking lots if the place you planned to go is normally crowded. See how it goes
