Insurance online – good idea?

Again, I envy the people in The States – they can get practically online. Online insurance, life insurance, Car Insurance – you name it, you’d probably can get it online. Most of the time in Malaysia, you can only view the insurance information online but if you are interested, you’ll still need to go back the old way – meet the agents and sign up for it.
Maybe we are getting there, I don’t know. But even so, it’s only one or two companies that’s offering those insurance product online. I haven’t tried asking for quotations for any online insurance product yet, but I’d really love to know how it will work here.
I guessed the challenges that the insurance company will have here in Malaysia would be the Internet penetration rate. And also, Malaysians generally loved people to suck-up to them,tell sweet stories & heavy follow ups before they’ll buy the insurance. I guessed it’s just the mentality of Malaysians not wanting to do anything to help themselves first, but rather get other people to help them decide.
I just don’t care – most of the time, i’ll consult the Internet first before getting the agent. At least, that way, the agent can’t cheat you by selling the insurance that you might not need
