Valentine’s day has just passed by gracefully, without anything major happening around me. I didn’t get any flower, nor any fancy expensive dinner this time round. I think it’s because whatever available budget that we have was allocated for Chinese New Year. New clothes, oranges, can drinks, soft drinks, cookies, *kuih kapit, **bak kwa - all need money to buy. How I wished all those would just fall from the sky.
Anyway, back to Valentines day topic, my wife & me has sort of agreed on not celebrating it. Besides, our wedding anniversary was in January, and we have already celebrated it then - way cheaper than Valentines flower and dinner. So, we don’t really see a point of spending more money for Valentines day, but use the money to finance our Chinese New Year stuffs. This year is the 2nd year that we have to give angpows, so whatever little money that we have left was put to good use ![]()
Only one thing that I did for yesterday - I didn’t post any blog post at all, both on this blog and my ashotiwoth.info blog, if you have noticed yet. We spend time together after work, by going to Queensbay Mall after dinner, and before we even had a walk in there, we were drawn to a lion dance show at the centre court. We stood there watching the dance, got a red packet from ***Chai Sen Yeh with 4 digits in it (and no, we haven’t buy the number yet) and 30 minutes later, we got home - was already too tired by then. We just got home and watch TV.
Cheap, and still get to spend time with your loved one during Valentines day. I have already said that Valentines day was already too commercialized, and since we don’t have much salary increment, might as well save whatever I could and put in ASB instead
* Chinese love letters
** minced pork meat
