Personal loans, anyone?

Have you guys taken personal loans yourself? I almost did, at least when I was preparing for my wedding. Then, I was put off by some of the conditions set by the bank. Should the terms was right then, I would have already have the taste of having a personal loan. But then again, do you really need to be taking loans when you should be living within your means?

Some people I know took personal loans out of necessity, like they need to urgently renovate their house, or need to get their car fixed without claiming insurance. Those unsecured loans, means no collateral or guarantee needed, are very convenient if you need some cash (less than US$10000) but do not want to be bogged down by heavy credit card interest rate. Provided – you have good standing credit history.

If you don’t? Those people could still take some kind of bad credit loan in form of secured loans, which means the applicants would have give some kind of collateral, depending on their loan amount. Example would be if you take the loan and your collateral is your home, the security of your home tied is to it, which means you could lose your home if you default on your payments.

I may not see the need of getting any personal loans yet for now, but probably would consider getting one when my apartment is ready, and need the money for the renovations. But even then, I’ll see what I can afford first before considering for loans. It’s convenient, yes, but you’ll need to know how to control it.
