Credit debt counselling

Just admit it – some of us have problem with credit card debts. I know I do, but at least I got help, and kind of relieve to say that I somehow manage to manage the debt with the help. And the help, at least for me, comes from none other than my beloved wife :) I know too that some of you may not be as lucky as me, but help is always available, if you seek for it.

There’s always credit debt counseling sessions that you could attend. They will usually help you by understanding your situation, and help devise a plan for you to be out of debt as soon as possible. Of course – during the period before you are out of debt, the plan will make you suffer a bit, but you’ll be thankful to be out of debt.

Some of the steps to get you of debt quick:

1. Meet up and gather all your bills a.k.a debts
Here, the appointed counsellor will go thru all your bills and debts, and will classify all your debts into different categories. Also, the counsellor will help you find out how much you actually owe, and devise a plan for you.

2. Do a budget analysis
The counsellor would be asking questions to determine your debt-to- income ratio by performing a budget analysis to get a clear picture of your income versus your debt load. With this, the counsellor can re-assess your budget and help you come up with a spending diary.

3. Make a spending diary
This would the toughest part of all – documenting every single incomes and expenditures day-in, day-out. Here also, the counsellor will make some recommendations on getting a 2nd income, or spending less on unnecessary items. You’ll learn a lot about financial management here.

With strong will power, you could eventually get out of debt. It really depends on yourself to make or break the plan.
