Muslim readers - can i ask you something? I just don’t want to sound controversial, but seriously, i’d like to know something that I’ve known some about already. I know that during the fasting month, women who menstruate are excused from fasting for as long as they menstruate, and they’ll have to replace whatever days that they missed after the Hari Raya - right?
But what I’m about to ask is - i know that these women can eat (since they are not allowed to fast), but can they do so in the public? I thought that although they are not required to fast, they also shouldn’t eat in public? I thought that unlike jewelry which are meant to be shown off, eating in public during fasting month, even for menstruating women, shouldn’t be happening?
I may be wrong on this - could the Malay readers validate this? It’s just that I saw a Muslim lady (with tudung and all) eating in a Japanese restaurant yesterday. If i offend anyone with this post, i apologize.
