Seriously - i thought we were bad enough. Courtesy-wise, i mean. I know we may not be as cool as the guys from www.corvetteguys.com, but at least, we have the courtesy to ask people if the seat is taken. Although Penangites are really not known for that, but i i don’t really much bothered about courtesy until my recent encounter.
If you think Island-Penangites are bad enough courtesy-wise, then you haven’t met anything yet until you met the mainland-Penangites. What happened? I was with my wife and her sister at Raja Uda morning market for breakfast, and we were seated one table with extra chairs. While my wife’s sister was looking for what to order (and left the seat vacant), one auntie come and just tried to grab the chair away. I have to voice up and say that the chair’s taken, and the auntie walked away not-so-cooly.
And we thought that was it. Until one old uncle just came by, threw his packet of food on the table, and proceeded to plonk his ass on the chair. And when he was told that the chair was taken, he kinda left with this remark - “Aiya… if got people liao, i mar don’t have to eat…”. I was like, what the heck - not even a word of asking if the chair was taken or not.
Frankly - why can’t they just open their mouth and just ask? And seriously, i thought we are bad enough courtesy-wise. Haihzzz…
