Postponed at 11th hour

My parent’s place have no Internet access, what more broadband connection. So what i have to do to attend a 10.30pm call just now was by having to haul my ass out of the house, and go to the nearest Starbucks/Old Town Kopitiam or something like that for internet access.

Oh, i rewind a bit – i was back at my parent’s because Nadia was sick – so me and my wife came back just in case. So i still have to attend that 10.30pm call, and decided to come to Starbucks at Village Mall (in SP) to online. The service there was not bad – have been there frequent enough that the staffs know me hehe. I reached at 10.15pm, ordered my drink and settled at one corner of the shop as i needed to dial in a conference bridge.

I dialed into my office network to retrieve the mail invite to get the live meeting link – only to find that the meeting was called off at 10.12pm and postponed to tomorrow same time! How crappy can that be. Furious, i wrote an email to the organiser to tell him off while at the same time accepting the new calendar invite. Man – I need a holiday. Can somebody sponsor me a Vegas vacations? Sigh.

Haha!!! I used to go thru this ‘pain’ as well. Rush thru dinner/gym/watever…only to find out at the 11th hour that the call is canceled. The prob is that the EMEA/Austin guys think that we sit in front of our laptops 24 hrs a day.

I solved the prob by asking the meeting chairman to send me a text msg (SMS) when any scheduled call is canceled. That way, I won’t have to logon (and we know what a hassle it is to logon to RAVPN) just to find out that the call tak jadi.
